Thursday a man from Portland was arrested for fatally stabbing his stepfather during a domestic dispute in the farming community of Nonsuch, Portland.
Police sources reported that the incident happened around 11:55 pm Thursday when Antonio Hutchinson started an altercation with his common-law wife, and her son stepped in.
Reportedly, Hutchinson had too much to drink, went home and allegedly attacked the woman in her sleep. It is believed that he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the stomach, which is when she woke up.
The woman fled from the house screaming, and this alerted her son who was next door. Eyewitnesses recounted that the son and the stepfather became embroiled in a fight. During the tussle, the stepfather was stabbed several times.
Hutchinson was pronounced dead after he was rushed to Port Antonio hospital, which is also where police arrested the woman’s son.
His mother, who is in a critical state, has since been transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital.
