New Legal filing suggests Drake’s alleged feud with XXXTentacion wasn’t fully investigated, pointing to him as a potential suspect in the ‘SAD’ singer’s death. In the development, Dedrick Williams’ attorney, Mauricio Padilla, is seeking to create reasonable doubt in the case surrounding the murder of rapper XXXTentacion.
Williams, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2023 for his role in the fatal shooting of XXXTentacion, is now filing for an appeal, pointing to an alleged feud between the late artist eand Toronto rapper Drake.
According to reports, Williams’ legal team argues that the investigation failed to consider Drake as a potential suspect, suggesting that the dispute between the two could have led to the crime.
Padilla clarified that he is not directly accusing Drake of involvement in the murder but instead questioning whether the investigation overlooked this angle. “A defendant has every right to defend himself and to fully investigate any potential leads,” Padilla explained. He emphasized that the theory was merely an alternate defense to show that the investigation may have been flawed.
This legal maneuver comes amidst growing online speculation surrounding Drake’s recent legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG). The rapper has accused UMG and Spotify of artificially boosting Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which includes a line accusing Drake of being a sexual predator.
Several of Drake’s songs were brought up in the court documents, detailing that Drake seemingly made several mentions of the rapper who passed away, in one of the songs saying, “SMS, Triple X, That’s the only time I shot bellow the neck.”
As expected, the new court documents which mentions Drake has ignited heated reactions on social media, with fans and peers weighing in on the controversy. Some are even drawing parallels between this situation and the allegations made against Diddy in the past, suggesting that major entities might be seeking to silence those who challenge them.
As per one person on Youtube, “UMG made the allegations go away when it first happened and now they’re making them reappear.” someone agreed to the comment and said, “Yup…that’s the part the lawyer could not say, but he purposely gave us enough clues. Drake should have taken the L and laid low for a year..”
