Despite being pleased with the overall performance, many Jamaicans are left disappointed after the 0-0 draw result vs Cuba at the National Stadium on Friday. Usain Bolt, Supporters and Reggae Boy Michail Antonio shared their views about the match via interviews after the match.

One supporter expressed that the Boyz showed improved performance in the midfield, however, Antonio should have been substituted earlier, and he also had other complaints such as the coach should have taken off a defender and put on an attacker, given that Cuba’s team was depleted for most of the game.

He believes coach Steve McClaren should have been able to find the victory.

“The midfield never look too bad at all, they make some good passes, the build-up was good and the forwards keep letting us down, it was good, but in terms of a strategy he doesn’t show me like a coach who is flexible, he’s not,” the supporter told CC Sportz Lab.

Usain Bolt who attended the match also gave his take on the game, he stated, “Well today i must say i see that Jamaica had a lot of possession so that’s a positive, cause throughout watching the game overall we always lose possession really quick.”

“I think we have a lot more possession, i think we moved the ball well, but we missed a lot of goals, so i just want to say, Jamaicans mi know how unuh stay, unuh a try to blame the coach, we got a lot of chances today and we miss, it’s not the coach’s fault,” Bolt said in the interview with CC Sportz Lab.

On the other hand, Michail Antonio spoke with Sports Down The Middle, he expressed that he was happy with the style of play, outlining that the Boyz “played quality football” and the only thing missing was getting the ball into the back of the net.

Antonio stated, “It’s the best football we played in a long time… i feel probably we needed to score a goal, i think we had a lot of opportunities we didn’t take, but in the last 4 years i been playing for Jamaica, it’s probably the best football we’ve played.”

Jamaica men’s senior team’s next match will be versus Honduras on Tuesday, September 10. The match will be played away, inside the Nacional Chelato Uclés stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
