Bounty Killer Gives Back To Bellevue Hospital

The Five Star General Bounty Killer, through his Bounty Foundation extended a hand to the Bellevue Hospital on Windward Road in Kingston on Thursday with the donation of two air conditioning units, five wheelchairs, and other useful resources.

The Look Into My Eyes deejay shared highlights from the handover which featured members of staff at the mental facility who accepted the donations with bright smiles.

“Courtesy stop today at the Bellevue Hospital for the mental disabled hospital 🏥 ,” Bounty Killer began in the first of a series of Instagram posts.

“The bounty_foundation handed over two AC units, 5 wheel chairs, and other items. Let’s care for the elderly, the disabled and homeless kids. It shows our love and compassion towards each other over 400 residents/patients that live there. Corporate Jamaica unuh fi a play a better role stand up,” he added.

Bellevue Hospital, which is the largest psychiatric institution in the English-speaking Caribbean, hosts approximately 400 patients across 23 wards including acute, sub-acute, psycho-medical, mental subnormal, long-stay, psychogeriatric and rehabilitative

The handover was witnessed by several other special guests and members of staff who all video taped the momentous occasion. In one of the posts, Bounty inserted his track Firm n’ Strong in keeping with the inspirational theme of the event.

“So much joy and jubilation today at Bellevue Hospital as we keep on creating smiles for Jamaica 🇯🇲 💪🏿🙏🏽,” he said.

The visit also entailed a sit down where the deejay reiterated the importance of mental health care, and the crisis which exists in Jamaica, particularly among men, who need effective outlets to aid in their mental wellbeing.

“It is a serious issue in Jamaica… men don’t waan be soft. If you have an emotion to let out, let it out. If a tears yuh want, tears will come. When yuh hold it in, it might lead to other things. But, our society, we have an image where we have to live up to: man hardcore, man rough… but man a man— a human being same way and we all go through things, suh sometimes yuh haffi put down di image and just go through yuh emotions,” he explained, adding that in some cases, men will mishandle their extreme emotions which results in murder-suicide.

Many of Bounty’s followers endorsed his act of altruism, as well as his words of advice about mental health.

“Great initiative… thanks for spreading awareness,” said one Instagram user.

“I am so proud of the work you’re doing. Your foundation will get all the help it needs to help serve. The mental health issues are real. I am with you all the way. It’s time we do the real work. Thank you 🙌🏽🙌🏽✅🙏 💯,” another said.

In the meantime, another supporter said, “This is great. Build up the mental wealth for our health!”

The Bounty Foundation, which was conceptualised several years ago, operates under the motto ‘Each one, teach one, to reach one.’

According to the foundation’s official website, it tends to the less fortunate and disabled across Jamaica, uplifting individuals and communities in dire need of food supplies, clothing, medical equipment, and volunteer services.
