D’Angel Responds to if Her Single Mothers Song is About Beenie Man’s Parenting: “I raised my son… I have to wear a father cap on many occasions”

D’Angel’s song Single Mothers has led to renewed interest in Beenie Man’s relationship with his children and how involved he is in their lives. During a recent interview with radio talk show host Jenny Jenny, D’Angel was asked to clarify just how accurate the song is when it comes to co-parenting with Beenie Man.
D’Angel explained that the song was not intentionally created to throw shade at Beenie Man and was created to connect with a global audience.
“It’s a world song. It’s not only just a message for me alone. It’s a general song, and it’s a general message for everybody. Not a direct hit on anyone,” D’Angel said.
The artiste, who was hesitant to share details about co-parenting Marco Dean with Beenie Man, added that she played the role of a father many times.
“I raised my son. I raised my son because, at the end of the day, I have to wear a father cap on many occasions,” D’Angel said.

She also clarified that she would never suggest that Beenie Man does not help at all. Single Mothers was written and produced by Khago, and he said that some of the lines about Beenie Man and D’Angel’s son were inspired by things she had shared with him.
“Mi sing di single mother song and send it to har and a cry she cry. Di only ting me remember fi Angel is when she a tell me seh Marco Dean a do boxing. So a it meck yuh har mi seh boxing lesson in a it. So maybe that touch har, but it’s no shade gainst nobody; it’s just writing a song,” Khago said.
Some of Single Mothers’ lyrics suggest that D’Angel has been forced to raise her son alone because his father is absent.
When asked why she didn’t change the lyrics, the singer said that she knows her struggles and that the song was inspired by accurate conversations between her and Khago.
