Satchell was sentenced by Justice Carolyn Tie-Powell to serve 27 years and four months in prison before becoming eligible for parole. She was also credited with one year and four months for time already served.

In addition, Satchell received a six-year and three-month sentence for child stealing, with credit for time spent in custody. Both sentences will run concurrently.

The crime occurred on June 8 of last year when Satchell abducted Danielle from Braeton Primary and Infant School in St Catherine. The child’s body was later discovered with her throat slashed on Roosevelt Avenue in St Andrew.

Despite being rushed to the Bustamante Hospital for Children, Danielle died two days later from the injuries.

Justice Tie-Powell described the crime as “heinous, savage, brutal, and nonsensical,” stating that a life sentence was the only appropriate sentence.
