Daughter Says Local Hospital is Covering Up the Circumstances Surrounding Her Mother’s Death on Friday

Despite being admitted to the Savanna La Mar General Hospital after she was diagnosed with cancer, Norika McIntosh says her mother, Vyris Pennycooke, received little to no treatment. The grieving daughter is now accusing the hospital of covering up the circumstances surrounding the death of her mother, who passed away on Friday.

McIntosh previously shared with Yardhype that her mother was being discharged despite being in a bad health state. At the time, McIntosh described it as a death sentence, for her mother was left weakened by lack of proper care.

According to McIntosh, after she filed a complaint, her mother was transported back and forth between Savanna La Mar General Hospital and a hospital in Montego Bay. However, she was later readmitted to Savanna La Mar General Hospital.

McIntosh shared that her sister last saw their mother alive on Thursday night. But when they tried to contact her Friday morning, their calls went unanswered.

They were later informed that she passed away. McIntosh said that her sister was told that their mother died in her sleep while in bed.

However, a patient at the hospital allegedly shared details that contradicted the staff’s statements.

“… The patient next to mommy told my sister otherwise. The patient said my mom got up last night to use the commode, but she couldn’t get back on the bed. She and the lady (the patient next to her) called for help but nobody came,” McIntosh said.

She went on to accuse the hospital staff of moving her body from the bathroom, where she allegedly actually died. “They came in the morning after she already was gone while sitting on the commode. But the hospital staff moved her body back to bed and covered her up,” McIntosh said.
