Reggae singer, songwriter, and producer Da’Ville rose to prominence in the early 2000s with his soulful love songs, and the artiste hit Always On My Mind celebrates the 18th anniversary of its release this year.
2006 was a significant year for the Jamaican artiste who is now based in the United States. 2006 would see Da’Ville, born Orville Thomas, release his hit song Always On My Mind.
The song was one of the featured tracks on his second album, Can’t Get Over You, which was released that same year. Always On My Mind was produced by Stephen ‘Di Genious’ McGregor at the age of 16 and stands as one of Da’Ville’s most successful releases.
The singer’s contemporary take on Lovers Rock Reggae was well received by fans, and Da’Vill’s melodies on Always On My Mind positioned the track to become a modern Reggae classic love song. So successful was the single after its release that Da’Ville later released a second version featuring Dancehall veteran Sean Paul.
In Always On My Mind, Da’Ville voices his longing for his love interest, who is no longer with him. As the artiste reminisces about their time together, he also expresses his inability to forget her.
“I’m thinkin about you. Girl how I miss you. Baby ever since that day you went away. I can’t live without you. You’re always on my mind. You’re always on my mind. You’re always on my mind,” Da’Ville sings on the track.
