Vybz Kartel’s interview with The Fix is already the interview of the year locally, racking up over 500k views in just one day. One of the several persons that the 48-year-old did not talk fondly of is former Portmore Empire member Deva Bratt.
While talking on the issues with himself and Deva Bratt, Vybz Kartel detailed that he had to bail Beva Bratt, one of the two times he was arrested for carnal abuse. As per Kartel, Deva Bratt’s actions made him a “sick” man with whom he could not continue to be associated with.
In a live-chat interview done with Dancehall Bomb, Deva Bratt whose real name is Sheldon Owen Smith, refuted many of Vybz Kartel’s claims, including bailing him on one instance.
“How yuh ago jump pan smady name and call dem out in a way when you can be called out in the way?” questioned Deva Bratt before detailing that Vybz Kartel “is the same thing”.
“Me remember when Lisa Hype was bout 14 or 15 when she come round a the Gaza, i can remember seeing some unscrupulous behaviours going on, i not gonna say any more… me a the only one can talk the truth,” says Deva Bratt.
According to Deva Bratt, he was called by Vybz Kartel while he was locked up, “when mi deh a jail, this man call mi a seh yow wah fi gwaan… i’m like bro everything good, i don’t diss nobody i don’t rape nobody i don’t violate nobody, everything good, si the proof yah.”
While on the interview, Dava Bratt called a female name Shanice who he was accused of raping to show that he is still good with her. While on the phone the female detailed that people are running with news that they do not know about.
“Yuh a nuh nuh body rude bwoy, yuh nah live clean,” said Deva Bratt at one point in the lengthy interview as he tried to prove a point that Vybz Kartel is not a saint himself.
Deva Bratt who now lives in the US also took shots at Shawn Storm, Popcaan and Blak Ryno, pointing out that they are running behind Vybz Kartel. “Bigup Shawn Storm, your a loyal idiot,” he said before claiming that he and Kartel had a fallout because he was not willing to sign over his publishing like others did.
As it relates to releasing new music, the former close friend of Kartel expressed that because of his challenges over the years as a result of being black-balled by Vybz Kartel, he does not have the passion to release new music, furthermore, he recalls dissing Kartel for 8 years in songs, but Kartel did not give him any attention musically.
As per Deva Bratt, the statement “Gaza nuh rape” by Kartel is being directed at him.
