Deva Bratt Reportedly Arrested and Detained by I.C.E

The mass deportation policy enacted by United States president, Donald Trump, has seen north of 50, 000 immigrants apprehended and placed in detention by the I.C.E (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to be sent back to their homelands in recent times.

Jamaicans have been and continue to be included in this group as time goes by. One such Jamaican that is allegedly in this group is Dancehall Veteran, Deva Bratt whose birth name is Sheldon Smith.

A video that was posted on social media by entertainment news outlet, ‘Dancehall Bomb’ shows a man who is believed to be Deva Bratt being detained by the I.C.E while engaging in an exchange of words with the officers.

The incident stemmed from a Traffic offence, in which the dancehaller was repoertedly spotted by a cop not wearing his seatbelt, things took a turn for the worst after Deva Bratt was asked to present his ID.

One of the multiple circulating video clips from the arrest started with the deejay from Portmore, St. Catherine, getting out of the back of a law enforcement vehicle.

While getting out, he said to the officer that was filming the encounter, “Come on bro, you can’t let your ego get to you bro, you gotta calm down.”

One of the officers apparently said, “We have the exact right to.”

Deva rebutted, “You weren’t in exact right because I was in my yard.”

The situation got tense as it involved a lot of apparent tussling between the man and the officer.

The officer, seemingly out of anger said, “Stop fucking pushing against me.”

The detainee replied, “You’re not calm, this is why you guys get to kill people.”

The officer wasted no time in responding, “The reason why they’re getting killed is because they’re because fucking stupid,” while still being in apparent rage.

The video ended with the officers bringing the suspect to a location that appears to be where the processing for investigation and detention will take place.

It’s unclear when the incident took place.
