Donald Trump released a statement following the shooting on Saturday at his rally in Pennsylvania, confirming the deaths of a shooter and an audience member. During his speech, Trump suddenly fell to the ground, clutching his ear, prompting immediate action from armed security.

The audience’s screams echoed through the venue.

After about a minute, Trump stood up, raised his fist, and shouted “fight” before being escorted off the stage into a vehicle. The incident resulted in two deaths: the gunman and a spectator, with Trump suffering a bullet wound to his ear.

The US Secret Service reported that the shooter fired multiple shots from an elevated position outside the rally venue. The gunman was neutralized by Secret Service personnel and confirmed dead. Additionally, the agency reported one spectator was killed and two others critically injured.

Trump described the moment on his Truth Social platform, saying, “I knew immediately that something was wrong. I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet tearing through my ear. There was much bleeding, and I realized what was happening.”

He expressed gratitude to the US Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift response and extended condolences to the families of those killed and injured. “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country,” he added.

Following the shooting, America’s President Joe Biden released a statement in which he talked about the shooting, “I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania…I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well.”
