As per the mother who earlier expressed hope that the accused will “confess” during the trial, Maitland was the one who urged her to report the matter to the police because it was not like Donna-Lee to go missing without informing anyone.

She further noted that he told her that he checked the camera personnel for the Chelsea Manor Apartment complex where he lived in St Andrew and there was no footage of the social media influencer leaving, however, several vehicles entered and left the complex.

Lugg told the court that after she decided to report the matter, Maitland was concerned about which police station she would report the matter and questioned her on the location multiple times. She noted that while at the Half Way Tree police station, Maitland visited the location with his baby mother, Kathy-Ann Smith.

Lugg detailed that while she was giving a missing statement, Noel entered the room to inform her that he had to leave, he also gave his number to the police officer. As per the mother on the stand, before reporting the matter, she overheard Noel speaking to a female cop, telling the officer that he does not know who Donna-Lee left with and her reply to him was, “Come better dan dat, yuh know betta dan dat.”

The mother revealed that her daughter was in a relationship with the accused for almost three years, and she would talk to Maitland from time to time, “He would call me mum… I got sick in early 2022 while in Los Angeles. He would correspond on the phone and he would say, ‘Mum, take your medication’,” Lugg stated.

After Donna-Lee’s Mother, 31 other individuals are scheduled to testify in the murder trial.
