During an interview, Austrian deejay S Pri talked about how Jamaican artistes like Mavado and Aidonia influenced him as an artiste. In a clip of the interview with OnTop FM shared earlier this month, S Pri said that the Dancehall era between 2004 and 2007 is where he grew up musically.

“I know it sounds weird, but the era between, let’s say, 2004, 5, 6,7, that’s my era. I grew up; in musical terms, that’s where I grew up. And also I feel like this era, first of all, has a very special spot in my heart, but I also feel like the biggest influence in my music,” S Pri said.

He further shared that he tries to fuse Mavado and Aidonia’s style, as they are his favourite artiste’s and heavily influenced him. The deejay went on to praise famed Jamaican producer Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor in the caption of his Instagram post featuring the clip from the interview.

“Artists like @mavadogully and @aidonia and producers like @digenius1 had the game on lock, and their impact still echoes through everything I create,” S Pri wrote.

S Pri recently returned to Dancehall after taking a four-year hiatus from music. The music video for the London-based artiste’s latest song, Back At It, was released on April 11 on YouTube.

During his interview with OnTop, S Pri also talked about the struggles of being in the music industry. The artiste explained that the creative aspect is a small part of the industry and expressed frustration with how draining the business and competitive side can be.
