Iran Launches Missile Strike on Largest U.S. Base in Middle East

On Monday, Iran launched a missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in the region.
The strike, carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was described by Iran’s armed forces as a “powerful and destructive missile strike” in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
Explosions were heard in the skies over Doha, prompting Qatar to shut down its airspace shortly before the attack. The Qatari Defense Ministry confirmed that its air defense systems had successfully intercepted the missiles, with no casualties or injuries reported.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation, calling the attack a “flagrant violation” of the country’s sovereignty and international law. “Qatar reserves the right to respond directly in a manner proportional to the nature and scale of this blatant aggression,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, U.S. forces remain on high alert for further Iranian retaliation, particularly in Iraq and Bahrain, according to NBC News.
In response to the strike, global oil markets reacted swiftly, with crude oil prices dipping in early Monday trading.
