As the scheduled final day of the retrial hearing for Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John commences, the latest report is that Prosecutor Janek Forbes has shown some sympathy to Vybz Kartel.

According to Forbes, Palmer could be granted bail to help his health concerns if adequate facilities are not available to help his situation in prison. As per the report by the Jamaica Observer, Kartel’s health concerns are not being debated by the state.

The sympathetic gesture comes on the heels of Kartel’s lead attorney, Isat Buchanan arguing that the deejay won’t be able to stand another trial because of his failing physical and mental health. As per a medical report, Kartel’s heart is operating at 50% of the normal rate.

However, Forbes noted in court that if the Portmore artiste is not granted bail then he should be able to receive some form of assistance from the Department of Correctional Services via a special provision.

Regarding the matter, Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop requested that a doctor provide a medical report to determine whether or not Palmer would be able to receive adequate treatment while in prison.

A ruling is expected to be handed down soon regarding whether or not Vybz Kartel will face another trial or be released from prison. Also, should he go through another retrial, the matter of bail is still a central matter in the case.

Earlier Buchanan outlined that should a retrial be granted, there will be an appeal.
