On Tuesday April 22, The St Catherine native took to social media to share a photo of herself along with the caption, “My new single ‘KOFFEE’ is out 29th April 🔥 Pre-save via the link in my bio 🙏🏾.”

Before Trap Dancehall’s current supremacy locally, the emergence of artistes like Chronixx and Koffee appeared to signal a new dawn for Jamaican Reggae. It was a moment charged with potential, where conscious Reggae could stand shoulder to shoulder with Dancehall, even among the country’s younger crowd, who had long favored Dancehall’s raw, edgy flair.

However, since 2022 both artistes have been absent from the music scene. Notable, Koffee did mention in of 2024 that she will be releasing her next album in 2025. On the other hand, Chronixx is yet to announce the release of new music in the near future.

Talking on her upcoming project during an interview, months ago, on August 4, she stated, “i have a new album coming out soon…”. Early 2025 was suggested to her by the interviewer, Koffee replied, saying, “I think that would be ideal… we can say that.” Now fans are anticipating the new project by this summer.

Koffee, born Mikayla Simpson released her most recent major project, Gifted, in 2022, and fans have been eagerly awaiting new material since. After revealing the date for the release of ‘Koffee’ fans had a lot to say in the comments section.

Her silence in the years following Gifted created a vacuum. As Trap Dancehall rose in popularity, Reggae seemed to shrink from the spotlight locally, even as its global influence held steady. With Koffee’s return, there might be a resurgence—a balance between the rootedness of Reggae and the evolving tastes of modern Jamaican youth.

Together, Chronixx and Koffee represent the most promising Jamaican musical talents of the past decade. Their work has bridged generations, uniting roots and youth, conscious messages and modern flair.
