Latest Update: Jamaica Begins To Feel Effects Of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl

As the hurricane gets ready to lash out at sections of the island, Beryl remains at category four despite the earlier prediction that it was expected to reduce to a category 3 by the time it reached the island on Wednesday.

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center for its 6 AM update, Beryl is emitting 145 mph maximum sustained winds. The weather system is currently on track toward the west-northwest.

Weather Jamaica also showcased a close-up infrared satellite image of the weather system. It indicated that sections of western, eastern, and central Jamaica are currently experiencing thunderstorms brought on by hurricane Beryl.

Jamaicans are being warned of heavy rainfall and light and water outages throughout the day. The U.S. National Hurricane Center’s 7 AM update maintains Beryl’s earlier sustained winds.
