Learn about current Worsening Drought in Jamaica

[Sharingbuttons]The Government has allocated $55 million aimed at mitigation efforts as the Meteorological Service issued a drought forecast for the island over the next three months.

The National Water Commission has made announcements on Social Media and on TV, urging persons to conserve water as much as possible during the drought.

The Hermitage dam is showing the effects of low rainfall , it has fallen to 42.5% of capacity down from where it was a week ago when it was at 48.9%.

The worsening drought conditions could affect the parishes of Portland, Clarendon and Portland more than it affects other parishes.
