An incarcerated man named Garrett Savoury, a 37-year-old from Kingston, reportedly fleeced around $160 million JMD from a woman over several years while serving time in prison for other crimes.
As per investigators, Savoury defrauded the victim via various means, including him acting as a US diplomat and making up outlandish plots regarding the female and her family being in a crisis situation and offering to resolve the problems.
Detectives revealed that the female transferred money in USD and JMD currency to the accused bank account on multiple occasions over several years.
Savoury who is from a Kingston 6 address was charged on April 29, he was slapped with 4 counts of collecting money by false pretence.
A court date is being finalised for Savoury.
