Mavado Returns With ‘Big Guns’ in Gritty New Video

Mavado is back with a gritty reminder of his “grimy” roots in his latest release, ‘Big Guns.‘ On Sunday, the Gully God, whose real name is David Constantine Brooks, premiered the new music video, loaded with imagery of firearms and street bravado.

The 44-year-old artiste, hailing from Cassava Piece in St. Andrew, hasn’t dropped a hardcore gunman anthem like this in years, making this a notable return to his darker musical style, like when he first burst on to the scene.

It seems like a personal track, “Pu$$y try diss mi from last year, blind dem blind or dem cah hear,” sings Mavado in one f the stand out lines of the song.

The track rides on the Cure Pain Riddim, produced by Good Good Productions, and was accompanied by a video shot in the United States. The visuals feature Mavado wielding a large gun in one scene, while other clips show associates, including his protégé Jay-A, brandishing rifles and uniquely customized pistols.

In the track, Mavado pays homage to the Caribbean, giving shoutouts to Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, and Trinidad. Sharing the release on social media, he wrote, “Happy Sunday my Godly people, tell the demons them a big guns so if them fuck up we put them in cross fire…out now on all platforms Gully!!!”

Fans quickly embraced the tune, with one commenting, “Only Vado can sing a gun tune weh sweet so,” while another declared, “Gully start the year slow, but him a gwaan wicked 2025 a gully year… 🔥☄️🙌🏾… #biggun done listen bout over 20 times already & counting.”

‘Big Guns’ is Mavado’s third release for 2025, cementing a powerful re-entry into his trademark hardcore style.
