Mother Charged After 4-Y-O Daughter Was Shot in Her Head in Manchester

Following the death of 4-year-old Gia Griniell, her mother was charged on Monday after she was questioned by detectives investigating the May 19 incident.

In addition to child negligence, the mother has been charged with breach of duty to securely store a firearm and ammunition.

According to reports, Griniell, her mother, and her 12-year-old sibling were at their home at Ingleside Boulevard, Mandeville, when the incident happened at about 10:00 pm.

The mother allegedly left her gun in her handbag.

The thirty-eight-year-old told the police that after she put both of her children to bed, she went to use the bathroom.

While she was using the restroom, she heard a loud explosion.

The police disclosed that Griniell was shot in the back of her head.

The mother was offered station bail but it is not clear if she was released.

Her court date has not yet been finalised.
