A South Carolina woman has been charged with homicide by child abuse after allegedly stabbing her newborn son to death just moments after birth. The suspect, named T. Ngo, a 31 year old, delivered the baby boy inside her Easley apartment on March 7 and committed the horrific act right after birth.

According to the Easley Police Department, Ngo used a metal letter opener to cut the umbilical cord before repeatedly stabbing the infant. She then reportedly placed the bloodied newborn in a garbage bag and moved it outside the room.

Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner described the crime as one of the most disturbing cases he has encountered in his decades-long career. “I’ve never seen anything this gruesome,” Liner said at a press conference on Wednesday. He emphasized that law enforcement would “speak for this baby” and ensure justice is served.

Police were alerted to the scene by Ngo’s boyfriend, though his presence during the attack remains unclear. Upon arrival, officers found the newborn with severe injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Ngo was taken to a hospital for medical treatment before being released and promptly arrested. She has been denied bail and remains in custody.

The shocking incident has sent waves of grief and outrage through the Easley community. Authorities continue their investigation as they seek justice for the infant whose life was tragically cut short before it even had a chance to begin.
