Theodore Whitmore, a coach of Mount Pleasant football team, is absolutely pleased with the performance of the new foreign players. They have shown amazing results and helped to win Chapelton Maroons with the score 2-0 in the Jamaica Premier League in the game that took place at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.

Mount Pleasant is a professional team of the Football Academy that plays in the Jamaican Premier League. It was formed in 2016 by Peter Gould and was first called Stush in the Bush. Based in the hills of St Ann, it revived football hype to the parish and began to participate in the Jamaica Premier League in 2018 to finish in second place already.

In 2023, it became the winner of the Jamaican Premier League, having defeated Cavalier F.C. with a 2-1 score. All this proves that Mount Pleasant has very high chances of repeating this triumph and appearing on the list of teams that take part in the events offered by GGBET sportsbook. No wonder the team has decided to improve its quality of play with the help of foreign newcomers.

Though Angelo Exilus has come a little earlier from Trinidad and Tobago, he did a great job in the recent match. This prospective player opened the score in the 64th minute and set a good pace for the new achievements. Soon, Raheem Edwards secured the win with another goal scored in the 74th minute.

When it comes to the latest recruits, such as Jeudy Jhonson and Clifford Thomas from Haiti, Whitmore called their gameplay satisfactory and hopes that the team will soon show its best.

According to the coach, both newcomers have completed the 90-minute match at a rather decent level. At the same time, he admits that a lot of work is to be done yet. But they gradually move to the spot they want to achieve with their help in particular.

Whitmore believes that his team was dominant on the field in the last match, but they lacked in finishing.

They were keeping control of the game for the majority of the time and showed much patience. Though they haven’t created many chances during the first half, the second half was characterized by many chances and even the execution of some of them. At the same time, the overall performance of the team pleased him a lot.

Mount Pleasant was controlling most possessions. The first chance to send the ball to the opponents’ net was in the 26th minute. Exilus kicked the ball to Prince-Daniel Smith, but his attempt to follow up was blocked on the line.

In a moment later, Green could hit from 6 yards, but he didn’t manage to do that. Mount Pleasant continued to attack after the break and broke the silence after 61 minutes. Raheem Edwards gave a pass to Exilus, who kicked from 6 yards. Edwards received a great chance in 3 minutes already again, but the ball flew over the bar despite his excellent run and Gadail Irving’s pass.

The next close approach to Chapelton’s gates was made by Andrew Vanzie, but the team’s goalkeeper worked well, making a kick for a corner.

One more great opportunity was made by Javel Ellis, who escaped from Jamoi Topey, the Chapelton defender, several minutes later.

The 73rd minute was signified by the interaction between Devonte Campbell and Nicholas Nelson. The latter one set up Edwards to tap home from 6 yards. One more sitter caused by great wing play from Campbell and missed by Edwards was from 2 yards. In 5 minutes, Campbell received another chance to score, but he didn’t manage to overcome Smith. He was also close to the third to perform a curling strike immediately before the final whistle.

Chapelton’s coach also admitted that his team played well enough, but the defence didn’t cope with their task. He considers the first half rather good, but the team’s defence couldn’t concentrate, so they lost a lot of possession in the second half.

Mount Pleasant moved to 81 points and is 9 points behind Montego Bay United, who succeeded in the recent match against Racing United with a 3-0 score. Chapelton takes 10th place with 33 points, and Racing is in the 8th place with 48 points in total.
