Nesbeth Recounts “Terrifying” Mass Shooting in Connecticut, “I Thought I Wouldn’t Make It”

Reggae artiste Nesbeth is still shaken after surviving a mass shooting at an event in Hartford, Connecticut, on Father’s Day. The Kingston native described the experience as the most terrifying moment of his life.

Nesbeth was among hundreds of patrons inside the Caribbean American Society building when gunfire erupted between rival groups. “Mi honestly think mi might not make it out,” he said to the Jamaica Star. “In just 15 minutes, mi whole life flash before mi. Mi couldn’t believe so much could happen in such a short space.”

Five people, two women and three men, were shot during the chaos. The singer said the panic was overwhelming, with people diving for cover and others screaming in fear. “Mi see people a drop pon di ground, people a run. Mi end up hide behind one likkle wall, just trying to survive.”

Despite losing multiple personal belongings in the rush, Nesbeth expressed deep gratitude for life. “Over 600 people were in the venue. It could’ve been worse, so mi give thanks.”

Reflecting on the traumatic night, he added, “This was the worst thing mi ever go through. But mi good—still shaken, but grateful. Mi a hold strong for mi kids.”

The ‘My Dream’ hitmaker has not shared the bad news on his Instagram, where he has been promoting his latest single titled ‘Side Chick’s Save Nuff Relationship’ on the 2 Time Riddim.
