Reggae Boy Richard King Signs for Scottish Club St Mirren

Just hours after Jamaica’s narrow 1-0 loss to Guatemala, Reggae Boy Richard King is back in the spotlight—this time off the pitch.

The 23-year-old defender, who was substituted at halftime during the match, is set to make a major move in his career by joining Scottish Premiership side St Mirren Football Club.

The Scottish club, based in Paisley, Renfrewshire, announced King’s signing on Tuesday via social media.

The post read, “St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Jamaican international Richard King on a two-year deal, subject to a medical and visa approval.

The 23-year-old signs a deal until summer 2027 with the club holding an option to extend for a further year. Welcome to St Mirren, Richard!”

King joins the club from Jamaican side Cavalier FC and is expected to link up with St Mirren this summer, following his duties with the Reggae Boyz at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Manager Stephen Robinson expressed confidence in the signing, stating, “We believe he can be a really good asset for the football club when he returns from playing in the Concacaf Gold Cup.”
