Reggae Boyz vs. British Virgin Islands Ends 1-0

The British Virgin Islands and Jamaica battled today, Saturday, June 7 for three points in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The game was played at A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in the British Virgin Islands.

Jamaica’s starting eleven(11) included, Keeper, captain: Andrew Blake. Defenders: Dexter Lembikisa, Damion Lowe, Mason Holgate, Greg Leigh, Richard King, Demarai Gray, Jonathan Russel, Warner Brown, Kaheim Dixon and Relando Cephas.

Jamaica scored in the 17th minute of the match via a header by Warner Brown off a Demarai Gray free kick. Jamaica went on to boss the game there on, the Boyz came close to scoring a second goal in the 69th minute via forward Romario Williams, who was substituted onto the field to replace goalscorer Warner Brown. The first half ended 1-0.

Both teams had changes in the second half of the match but they were unable to score.

This win by Jamaica makes the team advance to the 3rd round of the CONCACAF 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The team sits in second place in Group E, Guatemala is at first place while the Dominican Republic is at 3rd, Dominica in 4th and British Virgin Islands in 5th place. .

The teams went into the game on the back of defeats, BVI loss 3-0 to Dominica, while Jamaica fell 5-4 to Nigeria in a penalty shoutout in the final of the invitational Unity Cup.
