These Are the Top-10 High Schools in Jamaica Based on the 2024 Performance Index

This list of top-10 high schools in Jamaica is based on the High School Performance Index for 2024 by Educate Jamaica and features the top-performing schools in the country.

According to Educate Jamaica, each school was measured using the percentage of their grade 11 cohort that achieved 5 or more subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and English at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CSEC) level.

Subjects that students sat prior to grade 11 (7, 8, 9, and 10) were taken into account.

10. St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for Girls

St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for Girls

Located in Brown’s Town, St. Ann, St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for Girls was established in 1906 by the Jamaican Anglican Church. St. Hilda’s High students achieved an 83.11% pass rate in their CSEC exams in 2024.

When compared to its 2023 pass rate of 71.6%, St. Hilda’s recorded an increase of 16%.

9. Manning’s High School

Manning’s High School

Located in Savanna la Mar, Westmoreland, Manning’s High School began offering classes in 1738 and is the second-oldest high school in the country. Manning’s High recorded an 85% pass rate in 2024.

When compared to its 79% pass rate in 2023, Manning’s recorded an increase of 7.6%.

8. Glenmuir High School

Glenmuir High School

Established as a private Anglican Venture, Glenmuir High was established in 1956 in May Pen, Clarendon. Glenmuir recorded an 86.8% pass rate in 2024, 14.7% higher than its 2023 pass rate of 75.7%.

7. Montego Bay High School for Girls

Montego Bay High School for Girls

Montego Bay High School was the first government-owned high school for girls in Jamaica and was established in 1935 in St. James. The school recorded an 87% pass rate in 2024.

Montego Bay High is the only school in the top-10 to record a decrease in its pass rate when compared to the previous year. Students’ pass rate fell by 4.4% when compared to their pass rate of 91% in 2023.

6. Hampton High School

Hampton High School

Located in Malvern, St. Elizabeth, Hampton High School was established in 1858. The school recorded an 88.2% pass rate in 2024.

When compared to 2023’s pass rate of 76%, Hampton High recorded the highest increase in the top-10, with students’ pass rate rising by 16.9%.

Located beside National Heroes Circle, in Kingston, Wolmer’s Boys’ School is one of four learning institutions established in 1729 as a part of the Wolmer’s Trust of schools. In 2024, Wolmer’s Boys recorded a 90% pass rate.

When compared to the 80% pass rate recorded the previous year, the high school recorded a 12.5% increase.

4. Ardenne High School

Ardenne High School was established by missionaries after the devastating 1907 earthquake in Kingston. In 2024, the school recorded a 91% pass rate.

This was a marginal increase of 1%, following its 90.1% pass rate in 2023.

3. St. Andrew High School for Girls

St. Andrew High School for Girls

Located in Kingston 10, St. Andrew High School for Girls was established in 1925. St. Andrew High recorded a 92% pass rate in 2024, matching its pass rate in 2023.

2. Immaculate Conception High School

Immaculate Conception High School

Immaculate Conception High School was established in 1858 by nuns from Scotland. The Kingston-based school recorded a pass rate of 99.18% in 2024.

When compared to its 98.8% pass rate in 2023, this was a marginal increase of 0.4%.

1. Campion College

Campion College

Campion College was established in 1940 and is located in Kingston. Campion College is the only school to record a 100% pass rate in 2024.

When compared to its 97.5% pass rate in 2023, the high school recorded an increase of 2.6%.
