According to the Jamaica Observer, while some were trying to get a good spot to view the fireworks and enjoy other pleasantries, three men were murdered in Bull Bay, St. Andrew, last night at around 9:15 PM. The victims have been identified as construction worker Alrick Ashton, who is said to be 39 years old; Isaac Ashton, who is a 68-year-old mason; and another male who has only been identified by the moniker, “Narco.”

Alrick and Isaac both hail from Taylor Land, 9 Miles, but it has yet to be disclosed if they are related.

The Kingston East Police revealed that the three men were travelling along the Cane River main road in a Toyota Starlett motor vehicle when they were intercepted by unknown assailants and came under gunfire. The car was hit multiple times, causing it to crash into a nearby wall, after which the gunmen then absconded from the scene on foot.

The authorities were notified and upon their arrival, the three men were found already deceased, having succumbed to their multiple gunshot wounds. The police conveyed that the scene was subsequently processed, and the bodies were taken to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
