At approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday, the peaceful Bogue Village community in Montego Bay was shaken by loud explosions. Police, responding to the scene, found 52-year-old businesswoman Althea Graham-Dolly lying face down in a pool of blood.
She had been shot multiple times in the upper body and head. Reports indicate that she had just placed her Bible on a chair and donned her hat, preparing to leave for church, when gunmen travelling in a motor car attacked.
A former banker and budding law student, Graham-Dolly was killed at her Montego Bay home.
Described by her church family as a dedicated and vibrant member, she was deeply involved in the St. James Parish Church, where her love for music, particularly the steel pan, was well known.
“She always wore broad-brimmed hats to church and swayed to the music. She was a solid member,” said church member Lisa Watt in a Jamaica Gleaner report.
Watt noted Graham-Dolly’s commitment to her faith and family, having raised her only child within the church.
A former employee of Victoria Mutual, Sagicor Bank, and Pan Caribbean Financial Services Ltd., Graham-Dolly was celebrated for her professionalism and achievements, including being named Pan Caribbean’s Team Member of the Year in 2009.
