A 12-year-old girl and her 68-year-old grandmother, who were both reportedly swept away in floodwaters, have now triggered a search team of firefighters.

The child, Jenell Walters, and her grandmother, Beryl Walters, were reported missing by family members who said they have washed away near Westgate in Montego Bay.

The missing persons who are residents of Rose Heights are said to have been travelling in a motor car with other occupants that was suddenly washed away by floods that resulted from the heavy rain.

The incident is said to have taken place at Barnett River.

Reportedly a man and his 25-year-old daughter were also in the vehicle and they were rescued from the raging waters by men who fix tyres nearby the scene.

As more information is pending, prayers go out to the 12-year-old girl and her grandmother.
