According to Texas police, a 12-year-old boy shot and killed an employee at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant. Along with the boy, a 20-year-old man was also charged with the incident.
The shooting occurred Saturday night at the Sonic in Keene’s 300 block of South Old Betsy Road. Authorities said Angel Gomez, 20, acted disorderly in the Sonic parking lot when Sonic worker Matthew Davis, 32, confronted him.
Davis confronted Gomez for urinating in the parking lot, according to Keene Police Chief James Kidd. As a result of the argument, the confrontation became physical, according to police.
It has been reported that a juvenile passenger in Gomez’s vehicle retrieved a firearm and fired multiple shots at the victim, which resulted in the victim’s death, police said in a statement. According to reports, the shooter is believed to be 12 years old.
As detailed by the police chief, it appears that the gun was an AR-style rifle, and at least six shots were fired, impacting the victim, which led to his death.
According to a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses and support Davis’ family, he leaves behind a 10-year-old son. The fundraiser has raised over $10,000 so far as of Tuesday.
