Residents of 100 Lane off Red Hills Road are now mourning the death of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed by the police on Wednesday.

The death of the teen was followed by cries of injustice as residents screamed at the authorities for what they deemed to be a “wicked” act on an “innocent” boy. The deceased, Rasheem Wilson, was killed around 1:30 p.m. in the St. Andrew community.

According to a report from the Jamaica Gleaner, the police stated that the Pembroke Hall High School student was fatally shot during a shoot-out with lawmen. Contesting this report are the residents in the vicinity and the teen’s grandmother, all of whom asserted that Wilson was ruthlessly murdered.

The residents’ distraught and rage could be heard as they protested against the authorities, with one screaming, “A baby dem kill.”

Persons were heard screaming, “Murda,” and repeatedly stating, “Innocent likkle boy dem kill.”

The grandmother spoke on the matter amid the outcries, she said that the teen was playing a video game on his phone when the police shot him. She also expressed that the teen’s father was also killed by the police in the past.

Following the incident, a video that was shared online on Wednesday showed that a section of Red Hills Road was blocked off.
