Following the September 12 murder of rapper PnB Rock, the Los Angeles police have named Freddie Lee Trone as a suspect and have arrested his 17-year-old son.
PnB Rock was robbed and shot multiple times while he and his girlfriend dined at a restaurant in South Los Angeles. The shooter approached the couple at their table and demanded multiple pieces of gold and diamond jewellery that the rapper was wearing before killing him and escaping in a getaway car that was waiting for him outside. Though police initially believed it was a random robbery conducted by thieves who saw the artiste’s girlfriend post on social media revealing their location, they began to explore it as a possible planned execution.
On Wednesday, police issued a statement revealing the identity of one of their current suspects.
“Freddie Lee Trone has been identified as being a person involved in the murder of Rakim Allen, aka PNB Rock. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, you are urged to call 911,” the authorities wrote.
The police released a picture of Trone, but no additional details about the assailant were revealed.
According to reports from TMZ, Trone’s teenage son was arrested in connection to the murder and is believed to have been the shooter while Trone drove the getaway car. Sources close to the outlet reportedly disclosed that Trone and the teen were already in the restaurant’s parking lot when Rock and his girlfriend arrived, apparently ruling out any possibility that the thieves came there after seeing her post.
The police department also shared the identity of a second suspect, 32-year-old Shauntel Trone, who was arrested and booked for accessory to murder. The case against Trone and the teen will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration no later than Thursday, September 29, 2022, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s official website.
