17-Y-O Autistic KPH Patient Allegedly Raped by an Employee at the Facility – Video Report

A seventeen-year-old autistic girl who was receiving treatment at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) for seizures was allegedly raped on Saturday by a contractor at the facility.

The teen’s mother, whose name has been withheld from the public to protect her daughter’s identity, is demanding justice and has called for the hospital to take accountability for the incident. The mother, Jane Doe, has questioned why her daughter was not placed near the nurse’s station in the beginning, so they could watch her as they have now done.

According to Jane, the teen was placed at the back of the hospital ward. When Jane went to visit her on Saturday, she was not in her bed, and a nurse was alerted. Jane found her daughter coming from upstairs crying, and the teen told her she had been raped by one of the hospital’s employees.

Jane disclosed that she confronted the man, whom she found upstairs taking a bath, and after he denied assaulting the 17-year-old, refusing to leave the bathroom, she reported the incident to the nurses.

Subsequent tests on the autistic teen have found semen, and she has received preventative treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). According to Jane, despite the symptoms of her daughter’s autism, she can clearly communicate events that have happened to her.

The alleged rapist is reportedly now on the run.

Errol Greene, head of the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), disclosed that the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) has been to the hospital, and the organisation and the police are currently conducting an investigation.

Greene added that concerns had been expressed concerning the facility’s acceptance of patients who are struggling with mental health issues, as there is not a dedicated area set aside for them.
