As violence continues to plague the lives of the residents of Central Village, St. Catherine, an arson attack on a house in the community on Tuesday is suspected to have claimed the lives of four of the home’s inhabitants.
While Central Village has a history of crime, there has been a flare-up of violence since Sunday, with one woman shot in the face. A man was also shot and killed, and his home was firebombed.
In what appears to be the latest case of firebombing, the charred remains of four victims were found in the burned structure of their house. Reports state that the incident happened early this morning in a section of the commonly called compound.
According to reports from the Jamaica Observer, three bodies were found on the veranda and one in the bathroom while the fire brigade conducted cooling down operations on the house. The bodies were reportedly found at approximately 2 a.m. However, it is unclear when the fire was started.
While the names and ages of the victims have not yet been revealed, they have been identified as a woman, her two daughters, and her grandchild.
A video taken from the scene of the crime reveals the badly burned remains of the house, whose walls were covered in soot and its ground in saturated ash. The charred remains of a bed frame and couch among burnt wooden debris can also be seen in the footage.
