A farmer was allegedly stabbed by his common-law wife during a domestic dispute in Clarendon.
The deceased, identified as 36-year-old Orane Cole, resided in Mitchell Town, Clarendon, with his 53-year-old common-law wife, who was also a farmer.
The head of the Clarendon Police, acting Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, disclosed that on Monday night, an argument regarding relationship issues developed between Cole and his partner.
After Cole became boisterous, he then followed his wife outside and armed himself with a piece of wood, which prompted the woman to arm herself with a knife, police stated.
According to Russell, Cole proceeded to hit her multiple times, and his wife allegedly stabbed him in the left side of his chest.
The pair were later rushed to the Lionel Town Hospital.
Cole succumbed to his injury, and his wife remains hospitalised under police guard.
Highlighting the series of deaths in Clarendon stemming from domestic issues, Russell called for peaceful domestic resolutions, imploring people to talk about it instead of fighting it out.
