Head of Operations for the St Catherine South Police Division, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson stated that “The police in the division continue the zero-tolerance activities to rid the streets of illegal guns, drugs and other criminal activities.”

The ‘Get Every Illegal Gun’ campaign launched by the government has contributed to the seizure of illegal guns, arrest of gunmen, and dismantling of gangs across the island. In recent reports by the Commissioner of Police, Major Antony Anderson reported that as of March 1, 2022, 163 guns were seized and that figure has increased since.

The teenager was subsequently arrested and is in custody while further investigations are conducted.
