Magnum King, Poor and Boasy, Pleads Guilty to Fraud Charges

The winner of the 2009 staging of Magnum Kings and Queens, Poor and Boasy, pleaded guilty to multiple charges of fraud on Tuesday morning.

According to reports from the Jamaica Star, Poor and Boasy, born Omar Johnson, was charged with uttering forged documents, conspiracy to defraud, and obtaining money by means of false pretence and pleaded guilty to the above today at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court. Reports state that the entertainer allegedly gave counterfeit US dollar bills to the complainant in exchange for genuine Jamaican currency.

Before the producers of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition closed their doors in 2018, Johnson gained notoriety on the Jamaican music scene after he joined the contest’s 2009 roster of competitors. His story of being a humble street youth earning a living cleaning windscreens touched many Jamaicans, and after becoming the male winner of the competition, grabbing a $1 million cash prize, his luck appeared to be changing.

However, Johnson was later accused of being involved in a stabbing incident, and the entertainer told the Jamaica Star in 2016 that his career had severely suffered, though he was later cleared of the charges. The artiste had been trying to make a comeback at the time but fell off the music radar.
