Co-Accused in Aneka Townsend’s Murder Case Granted $500,000 Bail

Subsequent to his arrest and charge earlier this month in relation to the death of Aneka ‘Slickianna’ Townsend, 47-year-old Rohan Rose has been granted bail in the sum of $500,000.

Following the discovery of Townsend’s body on October 21, in Reading, St James, Rushawn Patterson was arrested on November 2 and later charged with Townsend’s murder. Patterson allegedly picked up Townsend in Montego Bay the day before her body was found and strangled her after the pair argued that night.

Rose, who reportedly was working as a supervisor at Guardsman at the time of his arrest, was charged with misprision of a felony, which consists of failing to report knowledge of a felony to the appropriate authorities.

At his bail application hearing on Monday, Rose’s attorney, Martyn Thomas, addressed allegations that his client was aware of Townsend’s murder.

“At the time this was reported to him, he had no reason to believe there was any truth to it, but later in the day, things started to develop,” Thomas stated.

Thomas assured High Court Justice Andrea Thomas that if granted bail, Rose would report to the authorities as needed and that there was no danger of him absconding. During his previous court hearing at the St. James Circuit Court, Thomas shared with the court that Rose was an ex-soldier and had multiple children who were dependent on him.

Upon granting Rose a $500,000 bail, Justice Thomas ordered the accused to hand over his travel documentation and report three times weekly to the Lucea Police Station.

Meanwhile, Patterson’s bail hearing has been scheduled for December 15.
