Amid Sizzla Kalonji’s grudge against producer DJ Khaled, one of dancehall’s veterans, Bounty Killer, has shown his support for the American music mogul.

On Thursday, Kalonji posted multiple videos on his Instagram page of him and his followers dismantling and burning certified platinum album plaques sent to him for being featured on Khaled’s albums Grateful and Father Of Asahd. The reggae artiste insisted that he was disrespected by Khaled as he could not see his name on the plaques and said that he was responsible for the producer’s success. Kalonji has since deleted his posts.

The videos quickly went viral in Jamaica, with a number of people speaking out in support of and against the entertainer. Bounty, who, like Kalonji, has worked with Khaled on multiple occasions, reshared a video snippet of Khaled performing. The video was seemingly filmed in Jamaica during the earlier years of Khaled’s career as a turntablist and showed the DJ preparing a mix as he declared, “Bless up Bounty Killer! Responsible for the career, for real.”

Khaled featured Bounty Killer on his twelfth studio album, Khaled Khaled, on the track Where You Come From, along with Buju Banton and Capleton. Bounty recently appeared on Khaled’s album God Did on the single These Streets Know My Name, alongside Skillibeng, Buju Banton, Sizzla, and Capleton. Khaled has consistently spoken about his love for Jamaican music. In an episode of Up Close & Personal in 2021 for Grammy.com, Khaled said he spent his youth traveling between Kingston, Jamaica, and Miami.

The 47-year-old went on to explain that he became known for his dubplates from Jamaican deejays. Speaking on the Where You Come From single, Khaled said he considered his collaborators as friends.

“All those artistes you saw on my album on that song, my friends that cosigned me in the beginning of my career. They use to give me dubplates…I never forget where I come from,” the producer said, adding,

“Dancehall is a part of my story…Jamaica is a part of Khaled’s story, and it’s such a blessing…I love Reggae music, and I love Dancehall.”
