Speaking on her 10.54 second 100m Diamond League record, which she set at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Thompson-Herah said it was unexpected as she thought she had a poor start and messed up the first 30m. According to the Olympic champion, she was both shocked and thrilled to see the record appear next to her name on the board after the race.

After discussing how Jamaicans treat and approach athletes when they meet them in public, Thompson-Herah jokingly addressed the rumours that she had not performed her best in the previous track season because she was pregnant. Rumours of the track star’s pregnancy began circulating on the internet after she shared photos of herself on social media with a slightly larger stomach. Thompson-Herah explained that during the off-season, athletes are not in the same shape as they might be in training and that she had been unwinding during her vacation time.

Thompson-Herah went on to share what it has been like training with her husband, Derron Herah. The double Olympic champion revealed that it was initially hard, as she described her attitude as “firey,” but explained that they have created a balance and keep their professional and personal time separate.

The sprinter also discussed her ventures off the track, and Thompson-Herah revealed that in addition to her and Derron’s restaurant, Coded Frolic, she has a clothing store, while Derron owns a loan and pawn shop.
