Aidonia Pays Tribute to Son Khalif with New Face Tattoo
Following the passing of his son Khalif Lawrence, dancehall artiste Sheldon Lawrence, professionally known as Aidona, has paid tribute to his first child with a facial tattoo of his name.
Khalif was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and, after a three-year battle with the disease, he passed away in December 2022. In the months that followed, Aidonia mourned the passing of Khalif, who at the time was his only child, and shared cherished moments he spent with the 9-year-old with his fans on social media.
The deejay has openly discussed his struggle to come to terms with his son’s passing and has paid tribute to him during his performances. Aidonia has now memorialised Khalif with a new facial tattoo of his name over his left eye.
The tattoo also featured a heart symbol. The tattoo was done by Jamaican tattooist Romie Prince, who has tattooed the likes of Masicka and Shenseea.
Romie shared a video of Aidonia on his Instagram page before and after his tattoo session, featuring the artiste’s single Faith, Aidonia’s first release after the passing of Khalif. Romie captioned the post, stating that whenever someone saw Aidonia, they would see Khalif.
The artiste went on to reshare the video on his Instagram Stories.
Following Khalif’s passing, Aidonia announced in August that he and his wife Kimberly were expecting their second child, who was later revealed to be a boy.
