A new weather report has cautioned against extreme flooding in sections of the Caribbean due to inclement weather expected in the coming days.
The 2023 hurricane season is nearly at an end, with only 16 days currently remaining, but individuals have been warned to remain cautious. According to the weather report, the sections of the Caribbean expected to be affected by the extreme weather are predominantly Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
With reports still developing, Jamaica is currently expected to experience between the ranges of some rain and extreme conditions. Jamaicans have been advised to prepare for flooding, as it is not yet clear if the system currently developing off the coast of Honduras and Nicaragua will stay towards the south and east of the country or progress directly towards it.
As the system moves off the edge of Jamaica towards Haiti and the Dominican Republic from late Thursday to Saturday, extreme flooding is expected in some locations as it intensifies. Heavy rainfall and flooding have already commenced in Belize.
While the European weather model has not listed the current system as a tropical storm, the heavy rainfall remains a concern.
