Trey Songz Being Compared to R. Kelly After His Sexual Assault Lawsuit Got Dismissed

Following multiple allegations of misconduct and the dismissal of a recent sexual assault lawsuit, American singer Trey Songz has been compared to disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly.
Songz was sued in June 2023 by a woman, referred to as Jane Doe, who alleged that the artiste had pulled out her breast from her bathing suit without her permission. Doe also alleged that there was video evidence to prove it, and a video of the pair at Foxwoods Liquid Sundays with Trey Songz in 2013 was later released.
In the video, Songz can be seen pulling back Doe’s bathing suit top, and she quickly covers it back up with her hands and then laughs it off. According to TMZ, before her 2023 lawsuit, Doe initially served Songz a demand letter in 2022, requesting over $5 million to settle it out of court.
However, he did not pay, and she pursued a civil case. Doe later amended her complaint twice before Songz filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Though the motion was granted by the presiding judge, Doe was allowed to amend the complaint for a third time.
As her amended complaint was very similar to her previous one, Songz filed a motion to dismiss once again in December. Following the dismissal motion, Doe did not respond, and the sexual assault lawsuit was dismissed by the judge.
The dismissal has received mixed reactions, with some social media users questioning how he continues to get away with what he allegedly did. Some viewers have compared the Slow Motion singer to now-incarcerated artiste R. Kelly, who dodged multiple allegations before being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking.
One viewer labelled Songz “R. Kelly Jr.” while another said the singer only got away with it because of loopholes in the justice system. “He still did it. We saw the recording. Legal loopholes “saved” him,” the viewer wrote.
Songz was also sued in 2023 by two women who alleged that they awoke to the artiste forcing himself on them after they had passed out at his house party.
