Retired American Olympic sprinter Allyson Felix and her husband, Kenneth Ferguson, are set to welcome their second child in April, with the couple travelling to Jamaica to celebrate their “babymoon.”
Felix retired in 2022 with 11 Olympic medals and 22 World Championship titles under her belt. Prior to her retirement, the former athlete and her husband welcomed their first child, Camryn, in 2018 after getting married that same year.
As the arrival of their first son is quickly approaching, the couple slipped away for some vacation time in Jamaica before the baby’s arrival. Describing their trip as a “babymoon,” Felix shared photographs from her and her husband’s getaway on her Facebook page on Wednesday.
Along with photos of the couple enjoying some Jamaican sun at a resort and on the beach, Felix also shared a throwback picture from when they appeared to be teenagers.
According to Felix, she and her husband met on the island more than two decades ago while participating in a sporting event.
“22 years ago I went Jamaica for the World Junior Championships and met my now husband on that team. I also fell in love with the incredible people and the beautiful country,” Felix stated.
The decorated sprinter further expressed her love for Jamaicans, joking that she always felt appreciated while in the country despite everyone cheering against her when she competed.
“Even though they always cheered against me I honestly feel so appreciated when I am here. It was only right for us to come back for our babymoon. Jamaica will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for all of the love and hospitality.”
