Beenie Man is adamant that he’s not ready to pass the King crown over to Vybz Kartel who also declares himself ‘King’ of Dancehall. The 51 year old whose real name is Moses Anthony Davis OD, over the years has outlined that he’s the ruler of the genre with his Grammy being a key factor.

On the other hand, Vybz Kartel does not subscribe to Beenie Man’s argument, highlighting that his music is more prominent nowadays.

Beenie Man who is best known for songs such as ‘Romie’, ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ and ‘King of the Dancehall’ had one of the longest runs in the genre, spanning multiple decades from the 1990s to 2000s.

Arguably Vybz Kartel has had the second longest run of being a top three in-demand artiste locally with yearly hits to show such as ‘Fever’, ‘Clarks’ and ‘Summer Time’.

In a video shared to Instagram by Beenie G on the day of Freedom Street concert, the upcoming artiste can been seen vibing and freestyling with the veteran Dancehaller.

The caption for the post reads, “2024 Did Live But Watch Out For 2025‼️. 1 #DancehallKing👑 #BeenieMan & 1 #BlackLionKing👑 #BeenieG TheBlockIsHot🎶 #dreamstoreality #freestyle #lionflames🔥🔥🔥🔥 #LionStyle💯…..Studio Next 🎙️.”

In his freestyle, Beenie Man states, “Badman a ranking, Beenie Man a one King, pu***hole you diss the programme yuh dead inn the thing.” The footage was seemingly recorded during Beenie Man’s extensive trip to the UK.
