Thompson was one of the star attractions for the opening of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting.

Living up to expectations, the sprinter won his race in 6.56s, with Ali Anwar Al Balushi of Oman and Shuhei Tada of Japan finishing second and third in 6.60s and 6.62s, respectively.

However, he did not get his usual good start and had to power his way forward as he found himself behind first place about middway in the race.

After hitting the wall following his finish, Thompson began to limp after turning to walk away and then went down to the ground.

After briefly staying on the ground, he got up, then proceeded to walk away with a slight limp, which one of the commentators at the event noted and expressed concern about. Kishane also showed grimace on his face at instances.

“He doesn’t look totally confertable here… Sometimes when you are forcing it like that and your battling, that’s when you hurt something… Lets hope that Kishane Thompson hasn’t hurt himself here in estana,” said one of the commentaters of the race.
