Determine’s Candlelight Vigil in St Mary Ends in Fatal Shooting Involving Police

News broke mid-February that Reggae and Dancehall artiste Determine Passed Away. His relatives including a brother organised a Candle Light Vigil in St. Mary where the artiste is from.

“A sup’n we keep fi wi brother Determine, the deejay weh dead… A just one police come and behave unprofessional and cause all a this fi escalate,” said a brother of Determine who outlines that they were not hosting a party nor a dance.

The occasion ended with a fatal shooting after a police officer got into multiple physical altercations as detailed by a female who was one the scene.

According to the female, the officer “rassle” with the music selector of the event “him tear off the selector close hand cuff the selector and bring the selector way up the road,” she said before revealing that after that situation the police returned and got into a physical altercation with another male individual.

“Him and the man a rassle a grung and the man overthrow him, and him tek out him gun and the gun go off.”

Determine whose real name is Rohan Bennett passed away after a fight with stomach cancer. The St. Mary native is best known for his 1995 hit song with Beenie Man titled ‘Kette Drum’.
