Following the arrest of social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan on December 29, 2022, under allegations of imprisoning and abusing six women, Romanian police seized 11 luxury vehicles, including a $2.9M Bugatti Chiron. The seizure occurred at Tate’s Bucharest residence in Romania and included other sports cars worth millions of dollars.
The New York Post, citing information from Insider, reported that among the seized vehicles were two Ferraris, a Porsche, a Rolls-Royce Wraith, an Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate, a BMW X6, and a Soviet-era Lada 1500. The starting price of a Porsche Carrera 4s is $130,000, while the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Vanquish S are approximately $300,000.
Two Romanian women, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu, were detained along with the Tate brothers. According to the claims that led to their arrest, six women were held as “virtual prisoners” and coerced into having sex on camera for Tate’s “Hustler University” subscribers.
Millions of social media followers and subscribers who admiringly dubbed Andrew Tate the “king of toxic masculinity” allegedly saw him showcase pornographic content from women who were purportedly under “house arrest.”
Shortly after engaging in a Twitter argument with Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, he was taken into custody. He boasted during the conversation about owning 33 vehicles with “enormous emissions.” In the past, Tate’s comments that rape victims “bear some responsibility” for their assaults led to his Twitter ban. After Elon Musk acquired the social network, he was reinstated.
Andrew is a 36-year-old former kickboxing champion and “Big Brother” competitor who allegedly declared that males owned women and fled to Romania during a sex abuse investigation because he believed it would be simpler to avoid rape charges. According to the prosecution, Andrew was allegedly a member of an “organized criminal group” that had raped a woman last year.
Naghel is rumoured to be Andrew’s girlfriend, and Radu is said to be a former Bucharest cop-turned-porn star. Naghel, 28, and Radu, 32, were accused of being members of his alleged sex-trafficking group. The two women, dubbed “Tate’s Angels,” were arrested for helping to “coerce” and “control” the six victims.
NYP stated that Romania’s DIICOT investigations agency spokeswoman Ramona Bolla said that the vehicles were seized to “sustain the cost of the investigation.” Additionally, if the defendants were found guilty, the assets could be given as damages to the abused victims.
At first, the four defendants were detained for a day. However, while the police conducted their investigation, a court-ordered 30-day prison sentence extension was being appealed.
