Asafa Powell Shares Workout Video with Justin Gatlin Ahead of Birthday Celebration

Ahead of his birthday celebration, Asafa Powell shared footage of a workout session on Friday, which features several of his friends, including fellow retired sprinter Justin Gatlin.
Before their retirement, the Jamaican Olympic gold medallist and the former American athlete were once rivals on the track. In recent years, the pair have developed a friendship, with both men appearing on each other’s podcasts, Ready Set Go and The Powells, to discuss their shared history on the track.
Powell will be celebrating his 42nd birthday on Saturday and shared his and Gatlin’s workout at the Boathouse Villa in Southsea Park, Whitehouse, on his Instagram page. Working out to Kraff’s 100 Watts and Squash’s Big Breeze, Powell, Gatlin, and their friends did squats, bear crawls, and lunges, with Powell appearing breathless after he was finished.
Captioning the video, Powell wrote, “A workout before the birthday celebration on the island won’t hurt. After this vodka and ting please 👀.”

Fans of the former sprinters expressed how great it is to see that they have developed a friendship. “I love y’all friendship now… rivals to friends/family ❤️❤️❤️,” one fan wrote.
Another fan joked, “Justin and Asafa low key competing like when they were on the track.”
